5 Fandom Friday: Favourite Fandom Phrases

5fandomfridayI’ve been neglecting the blog. After a well-rested vacation, I came home to a lot of work and have just been so busy. When I saw the prompts for August, I knew I had to at least do this one. But of course, I forgot and didn’t get to it. So this is me, sharing some of my favourite fandom phrases/quotes a week later.

FRIENDS – “If you know it through a wall, you know it too well!”

I love Friends. What else is there to say? As far as phrases go, I feel like I always say “Could you BE…?” and half the times I say “Oh my god”, I hear Janice’s voice. And I will find an excuse to yell “PIVOT!” But this is one of my favourite lines because, well, doesn’t it just explain us as fans? I mean you watch or hear something often enough, and you can just figure it out from just about anywhere/anything? We’ve all been there.

ONE TREE HILL – “Always and forever”

I loved OTH, but more than anything on that show, I loved Naley. This line was them, and I’m tearing up just looking at that gif.

FRINGE – “You belong with me”

Speaking of lines that make me cry…I mean, like come on, Olivia and Peter! The way she said it just kills me every time I watch it.

NIKITA – “Live the lie until the lie becomes your life”

Live the lie

I could’ve continued the sappiness, and pick a Nikita/Michael quote, but this one is just so meaningful. Being spies/undercover agents, they have to forget who they are and take on these roles. Sometimes they have to immerse themselves into their cover, that it does become their life. It’s a quote that gets said a lot on the show, and as the characters grew, so did the meaning of the quote.

HAPPY ENDINGS – “Suh cyuht”

So many quotables! But I have found myself incorporating “Suh cyuht” (“So cute”, Penny and Alex-style) and also “A-Mah-Zing” into my life a lot. It’s kind of just engrained in me at this point.

HONOURABLE MENTION:

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER – “On your left!”

Every time I hear the words “on your left”, no matter the context, I instantly picture this scene and just laugh.

5 Fandom Friday: Most Binge Worthy Shows

fandom.5.friday

Getting back into the 5 Fandom Friday swing of things and this week, we’re talking binge-worthy shows. To be honest, I don’t even binge-watch shows that often. In a lot of cases, I can only watch maybe two or three episodes of something in a row, before I either have to watch something else or go do something else entirely. The times that I do end up binge-watching a show, it’s usually a comedy and I turn it on just while I’m doing something else or I’m like “I just want to watch something quick before bed” – next thing I know it’s 5 episodes later. So here are my most binge-worthy shows.

1.) FRIENDS

Always have and always will love Friends. So good and funny, and insanely quotable. I remember one summer I made it my mission to go through a season a week. More recently, my cousins and I had Friends going, while we worked on our 1000-piece puzzle (this was during my trip to Disneyland at the beginning of the year).

2.) HAPPY ENDINGS

Three seasons was not nearly enough to spend with these funny weirdos. My usual go-to episodes are “The Kerkovich Way” or “The Marry Prankster”, and then I continue on from there.

3.) PARKS AND RECREATION

I think I binge-watched seasons 2 and 3 while on one of my vacations, which had gotten me all caught up to watch season 4 live, and I just couldn’t get enough! They were just the best; I miss it.

4.) CHUCK

The Nerd Herders at the Buy More – so entertaining, so funny. Again, there was one night I was scrolling through Netflix at like 11 p.m. and I’m like “Chuck! Let’s watch one episode…” and I stayed up an extra 3 hours.

5.) NIKITA

What, you thought I’d make it through one TV-related list without mentioning one of my favourite shows ever? HA! It’s one of the few exceptions to my typically “comedy-only” binge-watching. I loved everything about this show and will do a mini-binge just because.

5 Fandom Friday: Funko Pop Figures

fandom.5.friday

I wasn’t planning on doing this week’s Fandom 5, mainly because I have yet to start a collection of Funko POPs despite thinking that a lot of them are really cute. But there was an announcement earlier this week that made me change my mind. So though I don’t have any favourites at this very moment, there are some POP figures I really like and A LOT that will be coming out this year that I actually can’t wait to get my hands on.

1.) ORPHAN BLACK

There’s going to be OB Funko POPs?! Well I’m sold! Funko (via Nerdist) announced at the beginning of the week that they will be releasing POP versions of Sarah, Cosima, Allison, Helena, and Rachel sometime this month and I honestly can’t wait to get my collection started now! Though what is still missing from this collection is Felix, but there will come a time for that.

2.) FRIENDS

This was announced at the end of 2014, I believe. At the time, I thought this was going to be what started my collection because as a fan of the show, of course I want POP versions of Monica, Chandler, Rachel, Phoebe, Ross, and Joey! Funko just needs to tell me when exactly these are coming out.

3.) CINDERELLA

I’ve always loved Cinderella; loved the Disney cartoon as a kid. This March, Disney will be releasing a new live action/non-animated version of Cinderella, and with that, POP figures to go along with. Though I really do like the new Cinderella figure, I particularly like (and want) Gus Gus in the Glass Slipper – so damn adorable!

4.) Past Disney POPs

While looking through all the Funko POPs (of which there are A LOT), I came across a couple of old figures that I’m now going to be on the lookout for in stores, at Cons, or Amazon. There’s Lilo and Stitch, Boo from Monsters Inc, Thumper from Bambi, Mrs. Potts and Chip from Beauty and the Beast. SO MANY.

5.) Coming Soon or Non-Existent

Other POP figures that are coming out this year (according to PopVinyls) and that I can’t wait to see, are figures for: TV Arrow (there better be a Felicity Smoak figure!) and The Flash, Mulan, Saved by the Bell, Tangled, Clueless, and The Breakfast Club. But there are also figures I want to wish into existence. I’d love for there to be an Agent Carter POP. I remember seeing on Twitter last year someone made their own Agent May from SHIELD, and I SO want that to be a real thing. Of course I’d love to see Nikita, but that’s just wishful thinking. I feel like Sleepy Hollow figures will be just a matter of time, and that they will happen at some point. Oh and how are there no Harry Potter ones? (Or is that a legal thing?)

Soooo basically, by the looks of it, this is the year Funko begins to steal all my money. It was inevitable, but everything’s just so cute!
